Meeting puzzle

I attended a meeting today and found something puzzle. It’s about “the law of electronic signature” which will be widely used in the future. The law is very new (start to use from Apr.1 2005) and the technical detail is interesting.

But it seems the people sit besides me even pay no attention to the meeting. The only thing they do is to applaud the person who just makes the lecture one by one. What are they doing then? Hehe, some are reading newspapers, some are making calls, some are chatting, some are even sleeping… I’m sure you will not think they are in a meeting if haven’t been told before.

How could it be? I think it’s because the meeting itself is too annoying. In fact if needed the person can tell clearly and finish the lecture in half an hour while he use 2 hours instead. So you can imagine there are too many useless words.

For me, after I read the documents I get before the meeting, there are only several points I need to listen and try to understand. But I still have to stay here, sitting, for a whole day. It’s such a waste!

It’s the situation of meeting in China, everyday, everywhere. I call this, meeting puzzle.

How do you think about it? Is there anyway practicable?
